BRIEF PRESENTATION
The Department of Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology and Food Science of the Cyprus University of Technology is the first and only Agricultural Department in Cyprus, contributing to the technological upgrading and modernization of the agri-food sector of Cyprus. The Department offers a university degree in Agricultural Sciences, with the possibility of specialization in the following three main directions: (1) Plant Production Science and Technology, (2) Food Science and Technology and (3) Animal Husbandry and Dairying. GEBET has established itself as a research and education center in the field of Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology and Food Science in Cyprus with international recognition for innovation and excellence. The primary objective of the Department is the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge and technologies, which are necessary for the rational and sustainable development of Cypriot agricultural production and food processing. The above objective is achieved through scientific research and the education of high-level scientists.
ROLE IN PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
Cyprus University of Technology participates in the Project as a provider of know-how to the other members of the Project Group and specifically analyzes the data related to the followed batching process during the production of the products, taking into account the annual production programs of the Producer Bodies, in order to precisely determine the sampling rate of the products. It undertakes the artificial aging – maturation of the final products and the investigation of antioxidants in olive oil, olives and garlic. In addition, it prepares the publication texts and participates in conferences-workshops for the dissemination of the results. Finally, it provides to the ANTIOXCERT website new data.
