BRIEF PRESENTATION
Agricultural Beekeeping Cooperative of Nikiti Chalkidiki constists of 48 professional beekeepers who produce up to 400 tons of honey annually. It owes a honey processing plant where “SITHON HONEY” is packaged, which can be found on almost all the shelves of the large Greek supermarket chains. The export activity of the Cooperative extends to 11 countries. The Cooperative has 5 branches selling honey and other bee products in Thessaloniki and Chalkidiki. The Cooperative also has a station selling beekeeping supplies, a bee feed preparation facility, a honeycomb laboratory.
ROLE IN PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
Meli Sithon, through its agronomist, undertakes to inform the Scientific Team about the batching process that is followed during the standardization of pine honey and the annual production program, in order to precisely determine the product’s sampling rate. It also provides the samples to be analyzed and the final products that participate in the exhibitions.
