BRIEF PRESENTATION
The Department of Food Science and Technology of International Hellenic University of Greece (I.H.U.) through the Laboratory of Food Analysis, Quality Control and Safety, the operation of which was approved in FEK 3152/B/01/08/2018, has as research objects among others, the determination of physicochemical parameters of food and beverages, the study and characterization of food materials and ingredients as well as the transformations of their structure that occur during their processing, the genetic traceability and food safety, the study of the structure and functional properties of ingredients of seeds in order to be utilized for the development of healthy foods, the safety of seeds/nuts and grain products and the highlighting of the bioactive components of grains.
ROLE IN PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
The Department of Food Science and Technology of I.H.U. cooperates with the Producers Anaptyxiaki Etairia Ennia Chorion Kissamoy A.E. in chestnuts and barley flour and with Agricultural Cooperative of Olive Oil Producers of the Municipality of Kantanos Selinos in olive oil and olive products. It analyzes the data related to the batching process that is followed during the standardization of the above products and the annual production programs of the respective Producer Bodies, in order to precisely determine the products’ sampling rate. The department also receives the samples at the laboratories, performs the appropriate analyzes and evaluates their results. In addition, it prepares the publication texts and participates in conferences-workshops for the dissemination of the results. Finally, it provides to the ANTIOXCERT website new data.
